Year 10 Business students, together with their teacher, Ms Marija Milić, had a unique opportunity to visit the company “Strauss Adriatic“, the leader in coffee production in Serbia, whose brands “Doncafé” and “C kafa” are the most selling coffee products.
Introducing students to the complete production process and history of the company
The representative of the company, Mr Milan Živković, supply chain director, introduced the students to the history of the company, as well as the history of coffee processing and the challenges that the coffee industry is facing today.
The students visited the reception, roasting, grinding and packing coffee sectors, and learned more about how employees in quality control check the aromas of finished coffee at the end of the production process.
Coffee, the drink we usually start the day with, was first drunk in Europe in Belgrade in 1500. It is drunk all over the world from Japan to Brazil and is also a significant source of income for countries that grow coffee.
Rational use of resources at “Strauss Adriatic”
What is more interesting is that the students learned that the company uses briquettes for heating made from the coffee grounds left over after coffee roasting so that the company itself contributes to the rational use of resources and does not increase communal waste.
