Savremena International School’s students Mina Kovačević and Una Grzunov courageously spoke on Tuesday, 19 April and Wednesday, 20 April in the regional rhetoric competition’s semi-finals, and won the hearts of both the audience and the jury.
Original and interesting topics
Mina’s discourse was entitled “How We Escape from Reality”. Mina wanted to point out the amount of attention which modern society gives to trivial matters, while neglecting serious issues. Mina proceeded bravely in a firm tone, and her message was clear: people need to look above the day-to-day matters and not neglect essential issues.
The topic of Una’s talk was “Those Fickle Feminine Ways”. Una’s choice of topic got the audience interested and intrigued, because its originality made it stand out. How fickle being a woman is; wonderful, yet complex, irresistible and misunderstood, Una tried to explain through her convincing and charming talk.
Our students up to the task
Fierce competition and the years of experience of the other semi-finalists decided that our students would finish their remarkable run in this round. Just like in the previous rounds, they were up to their not inconsiderable task.
Since this was their first time at a competition of this kind, this is quite an achievement. We are very proud of their success and placement. They have shown what exceptionally talented orators they are, by demonstrating mature reasoning for their age, a mastery of space and something to say. Way to go, girls!
