On 4 November our school received a special guest. A renowned author, a long-time proofreader and the editor of “Kreativni centar”, Violeta Babić, visited our school.

The encounter with the author

After our students’ successful visit to this year’s book fair, Savremena gave its students an opportunity to meet Violeta Babić and attend her novels’ presentation in our school’s facilities.

On this occasion, Violeta celebrated three years of publishing her first linguistic point and explained to the students how her first books were created and where she discovered her inspiration for writing. Bearing in mind that she has been a successful proofreader for years now, she wished to do something regarding the literacy of the young, but also of their parents, because we have become increasingly exposed to an incorrect use of language both in media and on social networks.

Every day, Violeta explained how to write and speak properly through a string of interesting and simple examples, sometimes even explaining sketches that she called points. The success of her previous book “365 linguistic points”, influenced Ms. Babić not to give up on her writing in this form, so that prompted her next book, symbolically entitled “366 linguistic points”.

Useful instructions for the young

Besides the books that foster cultural manners of expression and writing, our students got a chance to know some other books by Violeta.

They were especially interested in the issue of “A book for all girls and their boyfriends” that can be of use to all adolescents since it represents a comprehensive guidebook for young ladies and their partners at the beginning of their sex life.

 

 

Linguistic workshop with Violeta

Students listened carefully to Violeta’s presentation and participated in a mini workshop that consisted of unraveling spelling mistakes through some examples from her books.

Impressions after the encounter

At the end of the presentation, our students were interested in asking questions, whereas the majority of them were interested in knowing where they can buy the books because they enjoyed them.

We would like to thank Violeta for deciding to come and visit Savremena and introduce herself to the students, after the presentation of her book “366 linguistic points” at the book fair. We hope that this is only a beginning of our cooperation with this author, but also the first project in a series of similar projects that will delight our students.
