The Art and Design teacher along with the Spanish teacher gathered Year 8 and Year 9 students for an interdisciplinary lesson. The students learned new Spanish words and expressions while creating works of art.
The topic assigned by the Art and Design teacher was “Autumn on Kalemegdan” and the students needed to paint a scene from Kalemegdan that they remembered, or they could have used the help of photos they found on the Internet as inspiration.
Learning language through art
The main goal of the lesson was for students to learn language through art, more precisely, to master concepts related to art (art techniques, tools, colours) as well as concepts related to nature.
We can safely say that the goal was achieved – the students were creative, they learned what was intended for them to learn, and they had fun.
