French and Spanish teachers, Ms Marija Panić and Ms Simona Kojić decided to join forces and conduct an interdisciplinary lesson for Year 10 students in order to compare the vocabulary and grammar of the French and Spanish languages.
Discovering the similarities and differences between these two Romance languages
Fortunately, the two languages have many similarities. Both languages belong to the group of Romance languages that have words derived from Latin, meaning that a lot of words have the same root and it is easy to recognise them.
The students enjoyed discovering the similarities and differences between these two Romance languages and learned that although French and Spanish share many features and have a lot of overlapping vocabulary, the differences still prevail.
