International School’s Eco School members, led by Ms Marija Kovački, Chemistry teacher, took part in an important reforestation initiative at the Special Nature Reserve “Koviljsko-petrovaradinski rit”. This remarkable event was organized by the NGO “Zasadi drvo”, whose mission is to restore forest ecosystems in Serbia by planting one million trees in collaboration with civil and public organizations. Our hosts for the day were “Vojvodina šume”, the organization responsible for managing the reserve.
During this initiative, our students planted over 300 poplar and oak seedlings across two designated sites within the reserve. By participating in this project, they contributed to preserving biodiversity, improving air quality, and combating the effects of deforestation. It was a hands-on learning experience that deepened their understanding of environmental conservation and sustainability.
Beyond the ecological impact, this event was also a unique adventure for our students. After successfully completing their planting efforts, they were treated to an unconventional meal and refreshments, giving them the opportunity to relax and appreciate the beauty of nature. The experience was both rewarding and inspiring, reinforcing the importance of taking action to protect the environment.
At International School, we are incredibly proud of our students’ dedication to ecological initiatives. Through projects like this, they develop a sense of responsibility and teamwork while making a lasting difference in the world around them. We look forward to more impactful environmental projects in the future!
