School stories

International School’s Year 12 and Year 13 students accompanied by their Digital Media and Design teacher Lora Mitić recently visited the Banksy exhibition. The gallery showcased over 100 of Banksy’s artworks, along with pieces by artists who have influenced him or collaborated with him on various projects.

The exhibition provided a comprehensive insight into the diversity of Banksy’s artistic world, featuring his original prints, as well as album covers designed for different music artists. Renowned for his graffiti that responds to social and political changes, Banksy is an artist who uses his work to provoke thought and inspire action.

As one of the most influential figures in contemporary art, Banksy demonstrates how art can be a powerful tool for questioning society and its institutions. This visit was particularly valuable for AS/A Level Digital Media and Design students, as it allowed them to explore real-world applications of visual communication, artistic expression, and design principles. By analyzing Banksy’s work, students gained deeper insight into how digital and traditional media can be used to deliver strong messages and influence public perception.
