Lower Secondary students at our school have embarked on an exciting interdisciplinary gardening project, led by Business teacher Marija Milić, which will run for the next two months. All Lower Secondary students are involved, with Year 8 students being the first to plant their flowers. The project is designed to help students develop essential skills such as decision-making, teamwork, collaboration, and communication.
The students will participate in an internal competition to see who can plant and maintain the most beautifully arranged flowers. This competitive element encourages creativity and responsibility as students nurture their gardens.
Developing Critical Thinking with Business Plans and Practical Learning
Ms. Milić has assigned students to create their own business plans, guiding them to think critically about managing and maintaining their plants. They will also submit a report on the success of the new flower varieties planted in the mini greenhouse.
The Importance of Gardening for Academic and Personal Growth
This project is crucial for students’ development, offering a blend of practical and theoretical learning. It provides them with real-world applications of business concepts, fosters a sense of responsibility, and enhances their problem-solving abilities, all of which are important as they grow academically and personally.
