Pursuant to the Statute of the International School, the Executive Board of International School, at the meeting held on 25 August 2020, adopted the following:
REGULATIONS REGARDING THE MANNER AND PROCEDURE FOR APPLYING AND EXERCISING THE STUDENTS’ RIGHT TO A TUITION FEE REDUCTION INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
I Introduction
Article 1
The tuition fee reduction is a financial encouragement for students to enrol into an excellent private school, proof that knowledge is valuable, a means of promoting a fair and healthy competition among students, the transparency and cost-effectiveness of the students’ work and the visibility of their results.
By fostering the culture of top-quality education, International School (hereinafter: the School) provides the option of tuition fee reduction for students displaying exceptional results in various fields, ranging from mathematics to sports.
II The purpose of the tuition the fee reduction
Article 2
The purpose of the tuition fee reduction is:
- pedagogic – increased number of top primary-school students in the School;
- social – increased availability of top-quality education not funded by the government;
- social responsibility – the founders display sensitivity towards social issues and use a part of the profit for noble causes;
- competitive – promoting healthy competition among students;
- marketing – promoting a good practice and responsible behaviour by the School and the founders.
Article 3
The budget for the tuition fee reduction is an alterable category fully in the autonomy of the School.
For each year, the Executive Board decides on the overall budget allocated by the School for the tuition fee reduction prior to making the decision referred to in Article 13 of these Regulations.
The overall budget allocated by the School for the tuition fee reduction cannot exceed 10% of the total tuition fee amount for the number of students planned for enrolment until the day of making the decision referred to in paragraph 2 of this Article.
Article 4
The students exercise the right to a reduced tuition fee in accordance with the procedure prescribed by the provisions of these Regulations, in accordance with the requirements published by the School on the school website.
The tuition fee reduction competition takes place in the period from May to July of the current year for the subsequent school year.
Article 5
The grounds for the tuition fee reduction is the Executive Board Decision regarding the tuition fee reduction. Candidates – as well as their legal guardians – will be notified if they are enabled to exercise the right to a reduced tuition fee by the School’s representatives via email.
The applications submitted by the students shall be considered provided:
- The legal representative of the student-candidate has signed the parent-school contract and paid the amount defined in the aforementioned contract for the purposes of enrollment costs, in accordance with the requirements.
- The candidates who enrol to the Year 12 provided they were allowed to exercise their right to a reduced tuition fee in accordance with the criteria stated in the Competition.
III Types of tuition fee reductions
Article 6
In accordance with the decision of the Executive Board, the School advertises the competition for the following tuition fee reductions:
- GENIUS – includes a reduction amounting to 10% – 100% of the one-year tuition fee;
- SPORTACUS– includes a reduction amounting to 10% – 50% of the one-year tuition fee;
- SMArt – includes a reduction amounting to 10% – 50% of the one-year tuition fee;
- A-ce – includes a reduction amounting to 10% – 50% of the one-year tuition fee;
The Executive Board shall define the amount of the approved tuition fee reduction through the Decision granting the tuition fee reduction.
For students who have been granted the tuition fee reduction, the reduction shall be calculated according to the tuition fee signed in the contract for the school years the reduction competition applies to, without any additional discounts.
IV Ranking
Article 7
The criteria for granting the right to a reduced tuition fee for candidates who have submitted the application is published in the call for enrolment, whose integral part is the tuition fee reduction competition.
By submitting the application for the tuition fee reduction, the student – candidate and their legal representative agree to the provisions of these Regulations and the competition requirements made publicly available on the school website.
V The reduction competition procedure and the decision on the choice of candidates
Article 8
The implementation of the competition is under the jurisdiction of the Competition Committee (hereinafter: Committee), comprising three members appointed by the Board; the selection procedure and the identity of the persons in the Committee shall not be public.
The decision on the appointment of the Committee shall also include the appointment of the President of the Committee, as proposed by the president of the Board, in a simple majority vote.
Article 9
Based on the applications and documents submitted by candidates, also based on the scheduled interviews if needed, the Committee shall make a shortlist of candidates eligible for the tuition fee reduction, in a simple majority vote. The Committee decides independently if there is a need for scheduling interviews.
The Committee is obliged to submit the proposal for allocating the tuition fee reductions to the Executive Board:
- within 20 (twenty) days following the expiration of the deadline for submitting the application for the students who are graduating from an elementary school
- Within 10 (ten) days following the release of the Cambridge exam results for the candidates of the International School who applied for the right to exercise their right to a reduced tuition fee in Year 12.
The Committee’s proposal for allocating the tuition fee reductions is signed by the President of the Committee.
Article 10
The decision on allocating the tuition fee reductions shall be made by the Executive Board within 7 (seven) days as of the day of receiving the Committee’s proposal.
The Executive Board is not obliged to make the decision on allocating the tuition fee reductions in accordance with the Committee’s proposal.
The candidate’s legal guardian and the School will sign an Annex to the parent-school contract based on the Executive Board Decision in paragraph 1 of this Article.
Article 11
If the members of the Committee believe that several equally ranked candidates meet the requirements for exercising the right to a tuition fee reduction, the Executive Board retains the right to allocate the tuition fee reductions to several candidates, or to allocate more than one tuition fee reduction in accordance with the School’s approved budget for tuition fee reductions.
Article 12
The School and the Executive Board are not obliged to provide the explanation regarding the decision.
The student – candidate and their legal representative are not allowed to file a complaint or objection against the decision on allocating the tuition fee reductions. The decision on allocating the tuition fee reductions is final.
VI Extent and loss of right to a tuition fee reduction
Article 13
The amount and type of tuition fee reduction provided by the School shall be determined by the Executive Board.
The School shall duly publish the information regarding the amount and type of tuition fee reduction, the competition and application requirements on the school website.
Article 14
The Executive Board retains the right to cancel any approved tuition fee reductions or initiate a competition for a new tuition fee reduction without explanation.
The Executive Board retains the discretionary right to grant a tuition fee reduction to any student who has not participated in the competition, as well as to any student who does not meet the listed requirements, without further explanation.
Any violation of these rights and failure to abide by the School’s Code of Conduct shall result in an automatic loss of right to a tuition fee reduction, and:
- if the non-compliance with the rules, i.e. the violation of the rules occurred in the school year after the year in which the competition was conducted, the right to a reduction of tuition fees for the current and next school year is lost
- if the non-compliance with the rules, i.e. the violation of the rules occurred in the second school year after the year in which the competition was conducted, the right to reduced tuition fees for the current school year is lost.
The decision on the loss of right to a tuition fee reduction shall be made by the Executive Board and it shall enter into force on the day of its adoption.
The approved tuition fee reduction shall be cancelled in case of parent-school contract termination, for the school year in which the contract is terminated.
In the event of failure to comply with arranged deadlines and late payments over the course of three consecutive months, the student shall lose the right to the tuition fee reduction and:
- if the delay in the payment of tuition fees for more than three months in a row occurred in the school year after the year in which the competition was conducted, the right to a reduction of tuition fees for the current and next school year is lost
- if the delay in the payment of tuition fees for more than three months in a row occurred in the second school year after the year in which the competition was conducted, the right to reduced tuition fees for the current school year is lost.
VII Exercising the right to a tuition fee reduction in the subsequent school year
Article 15
The right to a tuition fee reduction shall apply to the school year in which it has been obtained as well as to the following school year.
If a student of the International School wants to exercise the right to a reduction of tuition fees in the Year 12, it is necessary to apply for a reduction of tuition fees in accordance with these Regulations and the conditions prescribed by the competition
Should a student file a request to continue exercising the right to a tuition fee reduction, the Principal is obliged within 5 (five) days following the day the request has been submitted to obtain the opinion of the class teacher, the school counsellor and mentor regarding the behaviour of the student – candidate throughout their education, their participation and results in competitions, their participation in internal school projects and their personal efforts proving their loyalty to the institution. The Principal is obliged to submit the aforementioned opinions to the Committee within 2 (two) days from the day they were obtained.
Failing to comply with the obligations described in this Article represents the breach of the work obligation and might result in termination of the Employment Contract.
VIII Final and transitional provisions
Article 16
On the date these Regulations enter into force, the provisions of the Regulations on the manner and procedure for applying and exercising the right to a scholarship no. 18/2018 from 31 January 2018 shall cease to be valid, as well as the Regulations on the amendments to the regulations regarding the manner and procedure for applying and exercising the students’ right to a tuition fee reduction no. 81-1/2019 from 08 June 2018 and Regulations on the manner and procedure for applying and exercising the right to a scholarship International School no. 70-1/2019 from 10 April 2019.
These Regulations shall enter into force on the eighth day following their publication on the school website.
