On Saturday, 25 March, Savremena International School was a guest participant at this year’s “Star Games” event, based on the collaboration established with the Red Star Athletics Club. At the charity competition held at the Faculty of Applied Management, Economics and Finance (MES), Savremena’s students proved they were talented for chess, too.

Strengthening sporting spirit in all generations

“Star Games” lasts for 4 months, gathering 16 teams and representing a “battle field” for participants in as many as 20 different disciplines. The contestants compete in different sports, from darts, table tennis and basketball, to bowling, chess and football, but also acting. This year, Savremena’s student got the chance to try their luck in a sport they hadn’t played that often – chess.

Although they have so far competed in football, volleyball, swimming, table tennis, ice skating, basketball, fencing and other sports, at “Star Games” Savremena’s students showed admirable skills in this mind sport, which is considered to have been created over 2000 years ago.

Savremena’s students proved they knew its rules and were able to excellently handle pawns, rooks, bishops, knights, but also the king and queen, and won many games by checkmate.

Savremena as part of Red Star’s humanitarian project

Savremena International School is particularly proud of the collaboration established with the Red Star Athletics Club, which, with this project, not only strengthens physical and cognitive performance in all generations, but also organises numerous charity events so as to promote social activism, widely advocated by Savremena.

Through this collaboration, Savremena’s students will take part in different competitions in the future, organised by the club. This type of activity is certain to bring them even better results at school.
