International School Savremena’s Year 12 student, Milica Petronijević, is a member of the Obilić Academic Choir of the Branko Krsmanović Cultural Society and one of its most enthusiastic members. This is why she wants to invite everyone who has a flair for classical music and enjoys singing to come to the auditions that will be held on 5 and 6 October.
About the Obilić Choir
The choir was established in 1884 at Belgrade University, under the name The Obilić Academic Singing Society. Throughout the years of its existence, Obilić performed in many countries over the world. The choir’s greatest successes were in the USA and Canada with tours in Sweden, Finland, Poland, China, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Russia, Great Britain, France, Spain, Hungary, Greece, Mexico, etc.
What to expect?
Obilić is also the only choir to perform with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra and the collaboration has been successful throughout the years. They have performed music ranging from symphonies to pop.
The choir performs mostly old folk and spiritual songs, but also symphonies and the occasional pop song. Since this is the only choir that tours, you would get to go abroad and sing in concerts and competitions.
You are kindly invited to take a look at this season’s Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra final concert video and see for yourself how the initiation to the choir would be one of your best experiences. Join Milica and make us proud.
